Day Care

(Here he is showing off his new "Zapatos" --all dressed up for his first official day of daycare)
(giving the daycare a trial run)
(Bellow: daddy practicing the "drop-off" routine)
It's official, Tiago has finished his first week in day care. He seems to be adjusting well. His playmates are very sweet and he loves playing with the "older" boys. He even came home after his second day and slid on his knees across the living room floor (like a rock-star across a stage or a baseball player sliding into third base), a move that could ONLY have been picked up from one of the other older kids!

(getting to know the place)

Mad Science!

A couple of weeks ago, on mommy's day off from work, we took an impromptu trip to Coyote Point Museum. There, we discovered that, in addition to all of the cool animals and nature trails, there was a fun little play-structure just in front of the museum (facing the boat docks) with a grand view of the San Mateo bridge, the low-landing airplanes to SFO and the San Francisco skyline. What a SUPERB little field-trip--and so close to home! Plus, it was free admission this day!

(Can you see the highlighted airplane landing in the background? Tiago loved to see the planes so close and continually belted out, "Woah!" each time one passed overhead--which was often. By the time we took this picture it was getting close to dinner time and the late-summer sun was glaring--but what a beautiful day!)

(Great Scott--I think I've got it! So, the image quality was lost in the upload to this blog--but basically all of his little hairs are standing on end in little spikey exclamations!)

Keep Your Fork...

(picking apples from our tree)
(ridding the apples of any pests)
(YUUUMMM!!!)
...There's Pie!

Not only is it a good learning experience to pick, count & wash apples, Tiago and 'Lita have been taking the additional steps of baking apple pies for us! (To think that we had just let them rot on the ground last year.)

Back at Work!

It's so hard to say 'goodbye'. It's even harder to say, "Hello. I'm sorry that I left you."

My first week back at work was hard. I knew that Tiago was in good hands. I knew that he enjoyed himself while I was gone. But, I knew that when I came home (and he melted onto my shoulder with a little sigh), he had had the shock of his life--the very first FULL week without his momma at his beckon-call....Not to worry, he is adjusting well to the new routine. (I am still in denial about the whole thing...)

Good Times!

Okay, Okay. So, it appears that Tiago continues to be the well-adjusted, happy child that he has always been. But, going back to work has been really hard on MOMMY! Fortunately, mommy's mommy has been a huge source of stress-relief at the Guilar household, and has not only helped Tiago during this transition but has helped to keep Mrs. Guilar from loosing her composure while leaving her Baby G/Toddler T behind for the first time!

(The duo try to beat the heat in Marin, but to no avail.)
(A little known secret is that Tiago and Lita go out to the shed every morning to help assemble. Above: Tiago is all set for home improvement!)
(A boy can't live so close to the Cal Train and not love a little choo-choo ride in the park.)

(And, of course, there is plenty of fun to be had at home...)

(...and in the yard.)

(Even with a mouth full of bananas, Tiago still practices praising the dog, with a "Gu Girl.")
